Exploring Perfect Health – 1

I don’t want just health — I want Perfect Health. Here are some examples of perfect health in relation to well-known Bible stories.

Adam and Eve in Eden were noble in stature, and perfect in symmetry and beauty. They were sinless, and in perfect health. What a contrast to the human race now! Beauty is gone. Perfect health is not known. CD 145

So obvoiusly, Adam and Eve experienced a level of health that  we will never know. The cause is clear:

Everywhere we look we see disease, deformity, and imbecility. I inquired the cause of this wonderful degeneracy, and was pointed back to Eden. CD 145

It was when Adam and Eve sinned in Eden, that that level of health was lost. But the following story ilustrates the fact that even as sinners, we can experience the absence of disease, and that can be termed “perfect health”.

This is the story of the woman who had an issue of blood for many years and was healed by touching the hem of Christ’s garment.

As He was passing, she reached forward, and succeeded in barely touching the border of His garment. But in that moment she knew that she was healed. In that one touch was concentrated the faith of her life, and instantly her pain and feebleness gave place to the vigor of perfect health.  {CC 298.3}

Instantly she felt the thrill as of an electric current passing through every fiber of her being. There came over her a sensation of perfect health. “Straightway . . . she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.”  {ST, June 1, 1904 par. 6}

Here we see that when this woman was healed she had VIGOR (energy) and a sensation of perfect health. Have you ever felt that way? I believe that was our Lord’s purpose when He inspired the apostle to pen the words:

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
